The stage is set for the inaugural edition of the Tunde Oluwasimirin (Merry) Scrabble Competition as organised by Ekiti State Scrabble Association and proudly sponsored by Femimoniolu Foundation. The highly anticipated event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the prestigious Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria, starting at 9:00 AM.
The Tunde Oluwasimirin Scrabble Competition, is poised to be a landmark event in the realm of competitive scrabble in Ekiti and South West Nigeria, bringing together enthusiasts from across the region to showcase their skills, strategic prowess, camaraderie and passion for the game. While the competition will commence promptly at 9:00 AM, participants are encouraged to arrive early for registration, briefing, pairing and other logistics for the event.
This competition is one of the activities lined up to mark the birthday celebration of the esteemed scrabble enthusiast and philanthropist, Tunde Oluwasimirin, whose dedication and love for scrabble is top notch and has served on the membership of the association leadership in the state. It is our honour to commemorate his birthday with this exciting event, which embodies the spirit of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and intellectual engagement.
Other events lined up to mark the birthday celebration include a virtual Public Lecture titled “SHAPING TOMORROW: THE TRANSFORMATIVE INFLUENCE OF MENTORING ON SOCIETY’S FUTURE” to be delivered by Pastor Dr. Jimlas Opeyemi Ogunsakin; Founder, GLEAN Africa and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ekiti State on Public Health. The lecture is scheduled for Thursday 14 March 2024 via Zoom by 3PM WAT. The event will also feature the unveiling of HARVEST OF BRAINS IN EKITI STATE; an academic competition among all secondary school students in Ekiti state and also the One Day membership of the House of Assembly initiative.
